new Jurassic park game project

hey,a while back I played with the idea of making a Jurassic park game (free) using Unity engine.You can see the test footage on YouTube if you search "Jurassic park unity" ,the problem with the project was that animating/rigging of the dinosaurs.Any unity users with these skills?

A short test from last year when I first thought of making a Jurassic park game,image is quite dark sadly.Update on my Trespasser remake,feel free to comment and get involved

Progressing quickly with this project and learnt a lot in last day to help improve it visually and ensure it works well,I should mention this game is being made in Unity and will be totally free.It will be compatible with PC's and you wont need any additional software or games to play/explore.

Environment is moving along swiftly,added a cable car leading up into the mountains and towards raptor territory,its been just over a week since i started work and its going well.Have a lot of space to fill and loads of details to still do,for larger shots I've posted some on my blog http://sharkswithjetpacks.blogspot.com/

please,tell me it will include playing as dinosaur!it would make it be surely one of the best games to exist,and can I help with skinning?,unless unity uses a special program,or unity itslef to do so

Im not sure what the game play will yet,its only been in progress for just over a week but I'm keeping my eye on a set of dinosaur animated characters for unity,they have to be bought though.I dont know a.i scripting for Unity yet so once the environments done will have to find out what happens next or maybe even get people on board to help

This looks amazing! Great work with Unity; I tried to use that program and barely mastered the basics.
As for playing as dinosaurs, most game producers have never utilized that concept I think because the gameplay and depth would be terrible.

May I ask where you are getting all these models from? Did you make them from scratch or download/buy them?

Building and texturing everything from scratch in Maya,everything is fairly low poly/detail since its such a big open world and has to be.I still have bump map everything and light it properly,still a long way to go but will be releasing video then demo once this level is done.

Some progress going again,finally got the building finished for the site b visitor centre.Will be creating a bunch of objects inside soon,the trees and rocks are just temporarily put in to give an idea how it might look in the end.

This game looks very interesting. I hope you will be able to finish it.

These are some other random shots,spent the last few days looking for good quality plants which are really hard to find.Most game plants for unity look a bit cartoonish and way to bright green,also hunting out some mountain textures and a better tropical green land texture.The first section of the maps not far from being done,just some small models and a lot of plants to add.

Wow crash, theses are awsome, I really can't wait to see more.

Took a bit of time off but im back to adding plants and rocks and cleaning up the terrain.Lots of detail going in now...progress is slow but steady.The environment is running smooth and working well so far as both a standalone .exe and a webplayer game.

Heres the very first test of animation in game,i spent some time look at tutorials last night and this took ten mins to animate and import into the game.Its very basic and the framerate slow due fraps recording but its the starting point for AI.Next step will be figuring out scripting to get dinos reacting to the player.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: AMAZING.

Is this planned to be in a 1st person viewpoint, 3rd, or omniscient (like JP:OG)? It would be nice to see a smooth walk cycle of that raptor; I'm sure it looks better than what I saw in the video.

I'm planning on 1st person perspective,its a bit easier as there is prefab sets that for them already with weapons and also means less camera clipping problems.The terrain look a lot better when in fps,its hard to get a feel for the scale in these shots.I've been working solid for the last 2 weeks almost but will be getting back to it soon to tackle the AI,I threw together the animation video in like 20mins after I figured out the basics of how it works,Fraps slowed it down a lot and also the entire level has to be optimised when its complete.Next thing im going to do is rig a raptor and do some basic animations and basic scripting,once one is in game I should be able to build on that.
I'm planning on using dinosaur models from previous JP games because modelling them myself would be really time consuming,I can always improve the textures and add bump maps to make them look better but I want them to be the JP designed dinosaurs (the test raptor wasn't modelled or rigged by me it was free).

Hot damn! All from a one-man team!

Haven't updated in a while but thought would say the projects still on and not dead,some small issues with rigging but think they may be solved.Still looking for anyone with unity scripting skills if there are any.
