Re: What killed the dinosaurs?
It was probably a multitude of events, occuring over a long period of time that killed of the dinosaurs
THe meteor helped, but wasn't soley responsible. It probably lowered the tempreture, killing of the larger creatures so only the smaller, feathered dinosaurs and insulated mammels survived.
Definetly wasn't a global flood to kill of evil man though. We might not know what did it, but we know what didn't do it, and that didn't

I Think Nova was trying to narrow it down.
I agree with allo on this. His explanation makes sense to me.

Why then, did crocodiles survive, but plesiosaurs die out?
Why did sharks survive, but icthyosaurs die out?
A meteor was involved, we know there was an impact. But to say that it was solely a meteor leaves a few questions unanswered

Re: What killed the dinosaurs?
They were larger than the crocs, so they need more food.

Re: What killed the dinosaurs?
and during droughts, they may have not been able to survive on the scarce amount of water, wheras the crocs are able to survive in small amounts of water.

Crocodiles unlike plesiosaurs (maybe) could move over land and can servive on a meal (if its big) for almost a year. crocs Rule!

Not always, there are several smaller species
Droughts do not influence the ocean to a major degree (which is where they all lived).
How do you know plesiosaurs couldn't survive on a meal for over a year?

dinos
that is true. there is still a lot we don't know.

Re: What killed the dinosaurs?
but the majority of the population is larger, so naturally they would die out first. Even if there is a smaller species of plesiasaur that we do not know of, they obviously did not succeed in surviving.

Re: What killed the dinosaurs?
Obviously they didn't succeed. The question is, why? A meteor, alone, doesn't cover it. Just saying "they died out" isn't an explanation

Re: What killed the dinosaurs?
touche.
i was just giving a basic idea lol.
welp i realy thought i could explain what could happen.
then i tried to do it at church.
omg they had a fit. they said such vague things it wasnt funny.
my teacher '
and thats my local church wich i have gone to since i was 4, literaly,4. so i couldnt say that was scientifically an amazingly foolish thing to say, but i know them, and im doing my Senior Project there someday. So i shut up and complained on Yahoo! answers lol.

they never went extinct. there WHERE dinosaurs in the begining of time when there was Adam and Eve and God Created everything, but they evolved by the time the Ark was built.

The rest of the Christian world can reconcile sense and religion, why not here?
Its a contradiction in itself. There were dinosaurs in the beginning, but they evolved later as well?

i have no clue. That was a quote from my Church instructor.

Re: What killed the dinosaurs?
A combination of things, like Volcanic Activity, Cooling tempararure, and the "Last Straw" was that f*#king meteorite! But actually, Dinosaurs were never killed, Birds are a branch of the theropods family tree, which means that Dinosaurs are out and about even today.
