Alright guys, I think you've made it clear about your opinions, so now you do not really need to post any more and say "I believe," or "I don't believe." Once you've stated your opinion, there is no need to repeat it in all of your posts.

2012 is not the end of the world
Why?
Because the Mayans who calculated it couldn't even predict the destruction of their civilisation, so I think it highly unlikely they managed to predict the destruction of the planet. Besides, it doesn't actually state that its the end of the world, but a sort of new year (almost like the millenium, but then, people said that would be the end of the world too. And we all know how right they were
) where they have to get a new calender.
Not to mention that they use a shorted calender than us, so our 2012 is different to their 2012. Actually, their 2012 has already passed!

The maya civilitzation ended due to Spanish armies invading Yucatan. And I don't think that the world will end in 12/12/12. It was like in 6/6/06, some years ago.

It was the Aztecs/Mayans who made this calendar, and they made many others too. They had a calendar for each event. One for seven days, a week. Did the world end seven days after the ancients made the calendar? I don't think so. It is thought the calendar was made about 500 years ago, for some reason I've forgotten, so... I believe that it isn't true.

Just to inform everyone: Before calenders, people used a name for every year; for example, "The Year of the Elephant."

It's not like these people have a good track record.
I mean, people have been predicting the end times since the beginning times. One day somebody will be right, but that's no reason to think they are right this time.
